Congratulations Dada :)
I have no idea how his childhood was...
But Baba always made me feel privileged by saying that "I am happy that I can buy a Rs.10 dairy milk for you. When Gautam was small I couldn't even buy a toffee for him."
I have no clue if he liked his first school...
But I know he was going to a Bengali medium school which had just 4 hut shaped rooms.
I know he topped all through his school but I have heard people saying that he did because it was the low class hindi medium school of the city.
I have seen him stuying late for his engineering in the kitchen while I slept in the only bedroom of our 3 room house.
I know his students recognized him from far by the old yellow bajaj scooter he drove while all others had a bike. But his race was different.
I could see how Maa Baba didn't buy any thing new during those two Durga Pujas when he was doing his masters. But I also saw how Baba didn't took even a day to buy a new nameplate when his result for M.Tech was out.
I have heard him consoling me and Maa while he was all alone with Baba in the ICU for 26 days.
I have experienced his helplessness when building a house seemed a distant dream...but he did it for Maa Baba in the mid of his research.
I write stories... stories of unsung heroes!!! But here is my hero... My brother.. Dr. Gautam Bacher !!
Congratulations Dada!!! Nothing can make me and Maa Baba more proud than your achievements because people might see only the degree but we have seen the struggle, the hardwork, the dedication and the perseverance behind it !!!!
